Basics Edit

Fallout Dust offers new crafting recipes and some new crafting items that aren't used in the Basic New Vegas game. Of note are some useful hand crafted weapons and meds which are not quite as potent as their normal counterparts but can be constructed from some fairly easy to obtain junk in the wasteland.

Crafting in Fallout Dust happens both at the workbench and with a portable crafting kit strategically placed near every start-point offered in Dust 2.0's "Beginning." It is highly recommended that new players for dust pick up this crafting kit and carry it with them throughout their campaign. For example, in the case of certain makeshift melee weapons a smart player may repair their weapon to maximum health indefinitely at no cost by breaking down the weapon into it's component parts with the crafting kit and then building it again at a workbench.

Crafting Kit This is an extremely useful portable crafting kit that allows for dozens of unique crafting options anywhere you take it. While weight management is especially crucial in Dust, this crafting kit only weighs 1 lb. In our opinion it is worth bringing one with you at all times.
Cloth Strips These are obtained by breaking down various useless outfits you may find on deceased wasteland inhabitants and can be used to craft very useful medical items like Bandages. Cloth Strips weigh 0.1 lbs each.
Wood This is obtained by breaking down various wasteland trash and is a crucial crafting ingredient for some great improvised weapons like throwing spears. Wood weighs 1 lb each.

Crafting Kit Recipes Edit

These recipes can be crafted after clicking on the Crafting Kit item in the player's inventory. Crafting Kits can be found near each of the alternative start locations the player may choose when beginning a new game of Dust 2.0.

Guns 15 The Dust Musket is a common weapon in Dust and it is surprisingly easy to craft for a new character. Crutches are rare in this game but they are easily salvaged from Makeshift Scythes that Tribals often use. This rifle is fairly steady and offers decent iron sights zoom but the old spoon that the player must sight with obscures a great deal of peripheral cues, and it has a very slow reload speed. This might be the first go to weapon for a beginning sniper character.

The Dust Musket has a Strength requirement of 5 Weighs 7 lbs and fires easy to find 9mm bullets.

At a guns skill level of 15, it does 12 Damage and 6 DPS.

At a guns skill level of 100, it does 20 Damage and 9 DPS.

Explosives 40 The gas bomb weighs 5 lbs so it is not practical to use them very often in Dust with weight restrictions active. It's also rather slow to throw.

At 40 Explosives Skill, the Gas Bomb does 57 Damage and 18 DPS.

At 100 Explosives Skill, the Gas Bomb does 81 Damage and 21 DPS.

Energy Weapons 40 This weapon is the far superior version compared to the Makeshift Flamer. This does nearly exactly the same amount of damage but has a weight of 6, a STR requirement of 4, causes an additional -2 HP(5s) has the bonus effect of Frightening Abominations. This is a huge boon given the number of Tunnelers roaming Dust's wasteland.

At 40 Energy Weapons Skill this does 16 Damage and 170 DPS.

At 100 Energy Weapons Skill this does 23 Damage and 240 DPS.
